Default path

I need to make a two tier fondant cake that has a dirt path from bottom to top. Can anyone suggest something to make the path out of?
Graham cracker crumbs are messy and don't stick well, especially when you adhere them vertically.
I'm at a loss as to what else I could use, or how to make fondant have that same look. I would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
Amanda

I have seen it done with crushed oreos and also powdered Hershey's Cocoa. The one I saw with the cocoa looked alot nicer in my opinion. good luck!

Depends on if you want the dirt really dark or if a lighter color would be okay. If a lighter color is fine, they make a sugar called Sugar In the Raw that is a large grain sugar and is light brown. I would think if you just barely dampened the fondant it would stick ok. Vanilla wafers would give you the same effect I think, but the sugar would stick easier.

Wow! Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to start practicing so I can find the one I like the best.
