Default Writing with Chocolate?

I need to know everything. I have to practice for an order in less than a month. How do i go about writing with chocolate? Should I use a ganache? or mix shortening with chocolate to make it thinner? can i use baking chocolate or actual chocolate bars?

thanks guys!

Is it a lot of writing?

I've done names and greetings in chocolate before - used actual chocolate and the melts. I just melted it but didn't thin it out because it can get too runny. I usually write the name out onto some wax paper, let it set in the fridge, then lift it off with a small icing spatula to lay on the cake. I may do extras in case of breakage.

Oh, I also type up what I'm going to write in Word, using the font I want and then lay the wax paper over it and start tracing.

You're welcome! It's easy and looks so much better than my writing.

in your experience, does white chocolate take longer than regular chocolate to dry?

Hmm, no, not that I've noticed. I end up putting it all in the fridge for a few minutes, that speeds up the process. Sometimes the freezer.

One more thing about using the fonts...thicker/fatter ones work best. I also try to go over it at least 2 times (kind of let it flood together, if that makes sense) so that it's not as fragile when I try to remove it from the wax paper.
