Cupcake Filling

If you use an off the shelf perserve or jam to fill cupcakes, do you have to keep them refridgerated, or will they be ok at room temp for a day or two?

room temp is fine, heck I made my own fresh strawberry filling and they sat out in a cake for 3 days...my dad is awful about putting stuff away so I wont give him anything that is quickly perishable.
