Default Awesome Fondant Tip...

I learned (and saw) something pretty amazing at the cake show this past weekend in Winnie, TX (and could have used the tip just one day before when I made an electric guitar cake that really needed some shine on it!)...you can spray Pam cooking spray on your fondant-covered cake to make it satiny looking.

Seriously, I never would have thought of spraying a finished cake with Pam, but it made the demonstrator's electric guitar cake look shiny and beautiful! After a couple of hours, the intense wet/shiny look dulls down just a bit to make it look satiny and lustrous. It was really pretty.

Can't wait to douse my next fondant cake in Pam. LOL!!

I thought this sounded neat so I just tried it on some palm trees that are due Friday. I did have to smooth it out, as it kind of looks like dew drops at first, but once I did it looked nice and shiny! I used a paint brush, but I think a cotton ball would work well, too. I can't wait to see how it looks after a couple hours!
Thanks for the tip!

No problem! And it does dry to a nice satiny sheen. I'm so glad you told us about this! My palm tree leaves look great!

How fun!! I've seen people on food network rub some shortening on it for the shine, but i've never seen the Pam trick!! Awesome! ...Does it mess with the taste at all?
