Pasta Machine...
I have a pasta machine and when it works properly it's really great. What are your views and opinions on the Makin's Pasta machine? I have the Amecco(sp) pasta machine, but it seems that I have to clean it constantly otherwise the rollers just turn and don't take in the fondant! Opinions or advise as to what I may be doing wrong are greatly welcomed!

Re: Pasta Machine...
kepp the gum paste/fondant well "lotioned" if you will with crisco and dusts your roller as well as you can, this helps me. I also am looking into getting the pats roller for my kitchen aid too! That's a good option to look into if you have one.

Re: Pasta Machine...
Be careful with the KitchenAid rollers! They put an enormous strain on the motor, and I think that's what killed mine.
Just a little FYI....

Re: Pasta Machine...
I wouldn't use mine too often...seems like I just use the manual one most of the time.

Re: Pasta Machine...
I have only used the one I have now which is a aamaco type found in the michaels clay department, that's where I get a lot of gum paste and fondant stuff too.

Re: Pasta Machine...
There's a Makin's Pasta Machine that I found at Michael's and I have 50% off coupon. I'm thinking I'm using that for the Makin's Pasta Machine! Does anyone out there have the Makin's Pasta Machine? If so, can you please tell us the pros and cons. I currently have aamaco machine as well and I just bought it two weeks ago with a coupon that I had from Hobby Lobby! I don't want to spend my 50% off coupon on another pasta machine if not needed.

Re: Pasta Machine...
Many of my students buy the amaco (sp?) pasta roller that sells at Michaels, but I don't really like it because the thinnest setting does not get the gumpaste as thin as it needs to be for alot of what we do (I teach GP flowers classes). I picked up a Prime Pacific Stainless Steel Pasta Machine from Amazon for 15 bucks. It gets the GP really, really thin and it also comes with a fettucini cutter, which works beautifully for fondant ribbon loops or fondant strips on a cake or quilling on a cake. Right now it's $20 but if you look it up once a week or so and find it at a lower price, you just send Amazon an email asking them to match their new lower price and they will refund you the difference.
I LOVE mine. Free shipping over $25 and no tax to boot!
