Cookie Brigade - sending cookies to soldiers overseas
In case no one has heard about this, here is a link:
CookieBrigade.com
It's a non profit group that helps to send baked goods to solders stationed over seas. If you'd like to help or find out more information, just go to the website.

Re: Cookie Brigade - sending cookies to soldiers overseas
..I may be wrong, and I'll try and look it up again to see if I am. But I remember hearing something a while back that said that anything not packaged (like from a store) would have to be thrown out, in case someone was sending poisoned baked goods to the soldiers. Check into it to be sure before you send a bunch over!

According to their brochure, they specifically ask for homemade cookies. It is important to properly package them to help prevent spoilage and to keep unwanted things out of them. They also say nothing sticky or chocolaty as they would be messy.

Thanks for sharing. I wasn't aware that they changed their policy because before, they were asking for people to create their own groups where they can bake and ship cookies. Perhaps they had to increase their security or maybe there were problems.

Re: Cookie Brigade - sending cookies to soldiers overseas
I did find a website were they are asking for DVD's for the soldiers. I boxed up two boxes with 75 DVD's each and am just waiting for the shipping labels. I was told that my DVD's will be shipped to Afghanistan. If anyone wants the website just let me know and I will post it.
