Default Diabetic cake recipes

any one have a diabetic cake recipe they are willing to share? To go with the diabetic icing. Maybe vegan recipes. I have family members that are diabetics and a 11 yr old that is over weight not to mention myself being overweight. I am looking to make cakes that are low sugar content. I also make lots of cakes/cupcakes for my church and have alot of requests for diabetic recipes. thanks

Shame on me... I am diabetic but don't use the recipes!!! I just don't eat many sweets... it's not just the sugar but the carbs (flour etc) that get you! So I really watch that. If I have a sweet.... can't have bread or starches... it's all a trade off!!!!

I think Pootchi posted some diabetic recipes, you might check her posts to see.

I have never made a diabetic cake.....shame on me. But my youngest has me thinking, and I am afraid that he will end up with diabetes. Putting sweets in front of someone who is diabetic is like signing their death cert. especially when they have no will power (like half of my friends and family) esp.with the cakes that taste so good, they want another piece, I always feel guilty when someone says yum this is so good I think I'll have another piece, and they do. I figured if I can try to eliminate some of the sugar, it might help. Or I'll try vegan recipes, anything I can make low carb, use wheat flour? I know it's not my fault they eat the cakes I make, but if I can offer something for diabetics I will feel better.

I know where you are coming from but a diabetic must have will power on their own. It is not easy some times and my glucose meter gets a little high sometimes but as long as I keep my HBA1C levels below 6 my doctor said he will not make me start taking medication. That is motivation enough for me. I don't totally eliminate sweets from my diet but do watch how much I consume. The diabetic exchange diet is a real easy healthy way to eat that might be good for your son. It would teach him a balance in his diet and that it is ok to have something special sometimes... just not all of the time. I have found that exercise is the only way to go. It keeps lots of things in check...choloresterol... blood sugar... etc. My kids are way healthy... they are all grown now and they get mad at me because I don't exercise as much as I should and my diet is sometimes a bit wacky since I am on the run so much but I am thankful that they are all healthy!!!

You are right... I forgot about it. There is also a mag called diabetic living. I have bought it a few times it has good recipes that I have found.
