Chocolate Chip Date Cake
1 Cup chopped dates 1/4 tsp salt
1 cup boiling water 1/4 cup cocoa
2 sticks margarine 1 3/4 cups flour
1 cup sugar 1 tsp soda
2 eggs 1 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup nutmeats
Pour boiling water over dates. Cool. Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, and cocoa. Beat till fluffy. Add flour and soda with date mixture. Mix well. Grease 9x13 inch pan. Pour mixture into pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Do Not frost cake.
