Default Looking for..

Does anyone have the recipe for the box cake extender? CC isn't working right now. It's raining outside and I thought it would be a hoot to let the boys decorate their own cakes, but I only have 1 box.
Thanks!!

here is the one I have

DH mix of choice
4 whole eggs
1/3 c. water
2/3 c. of buttermilk --full fat. If you use the lowfat buttermilk, use 1 c. of lowfat buttermilk and omit the water
1/3 c. of oil
1 package of instant pudding

For a true white cake, you can just use 6 egg whites (and not whole eggs), but I find the cake sturdier using the whole eggs. To tone down the yellow of this recipe for a white cake, I add one drop of Americolor violet color while mixing--and, yes, I do get a pretty white cake.

I use white chocolate, vanilla, or french vanilla instant pudding when making this recipe with a white cake mix.

HTH!
Melissa

Wait, that is the enhanced recipe, let me go and get the extender. sorry, just read it wrong. I like using buttermilk. If you do not have buttermilk, you can add a little bit of lemon juice to milk, stir and let sit for a moment. I hope that they have fun!
Be right back with the right one!

Here is one,

Prepare cake mix as per package directions. In addition to this add,

1 egg
1 cup flour
250 ml (or 8 oz.) sour cream or yogurt (I prefer to use low fat yogurt)
1 cup white sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla or other suited flavouring

Here is another for chocolate,

1 box chocolate cake mix, brand of your choice
Use the same water, oil, and eggs as called for on the box and also add:

1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1/2 package chocolate instant pudding

You could always do a half recipe of WASC

2 boxes white cake mix
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 teas. salt
8 egg whites
2 2/3 cups water
4 Tbls. vegetable oil
2 cups (16oz carton) sour cream
2 teaspoon clear vanilla flavor
2 teaspoons almond extract
Mix all dry ingredients by hand using a whisk in a very large mixing bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and beat on low speed for 2 minutes. Bake at 325 degrees

***One recipe makes: one 14" round + one 6" round
or one 16" round
or one 12" round + one 10" round
or one 12x18" sheet cake
or one 12" round + one 8" round + one 6"

Half a recipe makes: two 8" rounds
or two 6" rounds + 6 cupcakes

Whew! Hope one of these works!

I use the first one that litkitiki posted. It not only makes the cake moister, but it also makes more batter that helps fill out my pans more.
