Piping tutorials?
I really wanna learn how to pipe decorations. I was wondering if there are any tutorials out there that you guys could suggest or even some tips for me. I just really wanna learn some basic stuff. currently i only have a few tips available.
Wilton 1M, 22, ateco 67, 27, 30, 61 and 98. I really don't know what they are for so any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Piping tutorials?
What kind of decorations do you want to pipe? Figures, swags, ruffles? There's so much!! If you have any Wilton mags, they have a couple pages that show what each tip pipes.

Re: Piping tutorials?
wilton and ateco are universal. Wilton has a video how to pipe flowers, and it shows how to do basic flowers, do you have a vcr that you can watch us dvds or vhs in?

Re: Piping tutorials?
yeah we have a dvd player. i actually went over at wilton's site and saw the different tutorials. very helpful. but a lot of them used tips i don't have LOL
in your opinion, is it practical to buy a whole set of tips even if i'm just learning? i mean i'd hate to buy a whole set and then realize piping isn't meant for me
basically i just wanna learn the flowers, swirls, dots and really simple designs to make my cupcakes look better.

Re: Piping tutorials?
Luckily, tips are pretty cheap. .gif) I don't think you should necessarily go and get every one ever made, but it wouldn't hurt to have a good stock. Just go though the little Wilton tip-thingy and pick out a few that look neat to you.
I have several tips that I use rarely, but every once in a while (especially if someone orders and leaves the design up to me) I'll pull one of 'em out and give it a whirl. My Wilton teacher used some of her lesser used ones to make fantasy flowers.
Just a thought....

Re: Piping tutorials?
Start with the basics. 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 12 16, 18, 21, 47, 103, 104, 233, 352. That will get you straight lines, shell borders, roses (and swags), basket weave, grass and leaves. That's not alot of basics, but it's all I can come up with at the moment. I'm sure others will be able to help more!
Oh yea, I think you can buy a big ol' tip container (filled) from Wilton. It's a good starter. If you have a Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon, it's a pretty good deal.

Re: Piping tutorials?
a master tip set from wilton will give you more than enough tips or they also have a 29 I think it is one also. Both are great to have and have all the tips for just about any type of borders, and flowers and leaves and grass and ribbons and all kinds of stuff.
