Default Sugarveil?

Has anyone used this? I was reading about it, and I'm intrigued. I'd love to know what y'all think!
Thanks

You know, every time I go to the cake supply shop, I am tempted to pick up a bag of the Sugarveil icing just to play around with it. If I remember correctly, the Sugarveil pen was a spendy little tool. Heck, a bag of the icing mix is $7, so considering it's probably 98% powdered sugar, it's spendy too...but I would love to play around with it one day when I have some free time.

I'd love to hear from someone who's used it!

Sugarveil is this really pliable, flexible icing that you can make really intricate designs with. Not stiff and hard like royal. It's really neat looking. I think the website is sugarveil.com (??) I think.

Someone posted a knock off recipe on CC quite a while back. I'm not sure how successful they were with the results, but since it's fairly cheap to make, you might want to experiment with it. This was posted by redhotmomof3:
3 egg whites
1Tbsp Cream of Tartar
2lbs Powder Sugar
1 pkg Gelatin (dissolved in a little bit of water)
2 cups MM (melted)

I mixed the first 3 ingredients together for 10 minutes as if making royal........then added the Gelatin, then the Marshmellows..........beat until it is stiff enough to pipe ( maybe 5 more minutes or so)

Here's the thread where they talk about sugarveil and what the exact ingredients are:

I think I may have cracked the Sugarveil recipe......Maybe CakeCentral.com
