So I am new here at into the oven. I am married to a marine helicopter pilot. we are stationed in paradise (hawaii) and have been here for over 4 years. We have 3 fabulous children. 10 y.o. daughter, and a 3 1/2 y.o son...our newest addition was in december, a little girl. I started baking cakes and frosted sugar cookies when my friends said to me one day "your cookies are so good, you should sell them" so i thought about it and by word of mouth, was starting to get orders! My grandmother passed away a few years ago. she was known as the cake lady in our small town back in iowa. I was able to go through her hundreds of cake pans and endless collection of cake decorating supplies and take what i wanted. so, boxes and boxes later, my closets are shoved full of cake pans and supplies, and thus, began my cake career. I took a wilton class and have loved baking cakes for friends and family ever since.
I have dabbled a bit in chocolate making...and don't get too many orders for that, but chocolate is my weakness, so i do't mind testing some of my creations!!!
My husband is very supportive and i couldn't ask for a better man. He feels that he is living his dream of flying helicopters and that i have 'sacrificed' my career for our family and HIS career. I really love the military life and wouldn't trade it for the world. i feel lucky that i am able to stay home with our kids and raise them. So when i started baking, he was all for it. Now that my orders are picking up, i have started looking deeper into someday having a business of my own.
I look forward to mingling with the fellow into the oven-ers and learning whatever knowledge they have to offer!
