Urgent, need help NOW!!

I am looking for information on putting chocolate curls on a wedding cake. How to get it to stay on the sides without breaking them, when to put them on the cake, before or after setting up at reception, and if after setting up, how do you get them to stay on cake if the icing has crusted?
