Default Re: Help this newbie please

I have to tell you, cake box prices always blow me away. I just can't get over how expensive they are!

I buy mine at Sams. The 1/2 sheet size boxes are around $30 for 50 boxes w/lids and cake boards. They're heavy duty cardboard, not papery boxes and they have the clear lids that I love. They also have the clear plastic 1/4 sheet sets that are around $40 for 50.

I don't box tiered cakes and rarely make a round cake that isn't tiered so the sheet cake boxes are the only prices I'm familiar with.

When I made my first cake stacked like you're talking about I finally just cut out a set of paper squares the same size as my cake pans. Now when I want to do any offset cakes, I just lay the papers on top of each other to see what sizes I'll need to use. It's just easier for me than dragging out all the pans and stacking them.
